Signing up for Google account and AdSense for my blog
Well, I signed up with Google today so that I could take advantage of their webmaster tools, including the AdSense program (which I have yet to do… will keep you posted), so that I can begin to learn the methods of driving traffic and making money.
It seems that to get an account is fairly simple, and so I expect to easily be able to sign up for AdSense as well. In reading the FAQs I found that there are a number of different style “boxes” one can add for advertising. At first I thought this would be lame since I wanted to customize the way the ads layout. Then, I thought about it and realized, wait a minute, I view web sites everyday with AdSense ads, and readily click on the ads knowing they are from Google. Why not? If the ad is relevant to the information that I am looking for, and I have finished, or not found, the information I am looking at, then a link to relevant context-sensitive information is welcome and convenient.
So this helps me to understand a little something about the way I need to set up my own AdWord ads (This is Google’s self-serve promotional tool to post your own ads). So, I have come up with a number of keywords or keyword phrases that I will use inside my own advertising to make it relevant, hoping to drive more traffic to my site. Here they are:
- blog revenue
- blogging income
- make money blogging
- fund my blog
- Blogging for money
- Money blog
etc…
This will help me to also seed my site with these keywords from now on so that when someone actually does find my site, without clicking on a AdWord ad, it will be using the same keywords or keyword phrases I am using in my own effort. (Please let me know if you think is reasonable thinking. If not, I can update in a later post why not).
Anyway, more to come on how I implement the AdSense stuff, and how I use the other Google tools to help drive traffic. Let me know what you think, and please tell me if you feel I am being too vague about things.
