Blog Subscribers - why important?
Bloggers want to be popular. Not all are. My goal, and yours, is to have as many subscribers sign up as possible. Why?
Even in its infancy a blog can have a great deal of traffic, but is that traffic able to be monetized? Only if they come back. This means that when writing your blog you have to engage the reader and make them want to read more, especially what’s not written yet. The way to do this is to have them subscribe. Here’s why…
This accomplishes a number of things:
- Build a following
- Generate repeat traffic
- Develop an expert qualification
- Ability to monetize content
Counting blog subscribers is also a great way for others to value your information. It validates to others that your content is worth reading and how popular it is. It allows others to see that you have long-term readership. Subscribers also give a good indication of commitment on your part. If you continue to write useful information, they will come back.
Subscribers are usually split into two groups: email subscribers and RSS subscribers. Know this, though, if a person has subscribed to your blog for any reason, it is a commitment on their part, and it is up to you to fulfill that commitment. Stay current on your blog, and always provide fresh perspective. And don’t forget to communicate with your readers… they are your lifeline.
